This is what we like to call a Grapevine Knot in the lineman world. However, if you look up a Grapevine Knot on the internet, this knot does not pop up! This is sort of a specialized knot used in certain applications.
This knot is excellent for needing to grip around an object, especially under high tension. It binds and tightens, the more tension that is applied! That object can be; rope, steel, plastic. It works best with spherical objects.
Not the easiest knot to tie, but is used in critical applications in the lineman world. A knot you will be tested on & one you should learn!
