When it comes to working in various industries that include heavy lifting, rigging it usually involved! With rigging comes responsibility. It is something to learn that will help you if you want to get into a trade like: lineman, iron worker, oil field, pipeline, construction, and much more! In this video I go over a web sling, what it is, what it is rated for, the different uses and how to properly inspect it!

Now web slings are lifting slings made of woven polyester or nylon fibers. They are used to move heavy loads such as machinery, equipment, or construction materials. The webbing is sewn into a loop at each end and can be attached to a crane or other lifting device. Web slings are lightweight and flexible, making them easy to maneuver around loads of varying shapes and sizes.

Web slings are rated for the maximum weight they can safely lift, and this rating is indicated on a tag or label attached to the sling. The rating takes into account factors such as the type and strength of the webbing, the length of the sling, and the angles at which it will be used. Using the correct type and rating of web sling for each lift is essential to avoid damage to property or injury to personnel.

Web slings (eye-to-eye) have 3 different ratings & uses. Choker, straight & basket. Each one has a different rating, choker being the least rated and basket being the highest rated! With proper inspection, you can determine if a sling will be rated and good to use for your rigging application! Learn more here 👇🏼
